San Clemente State Beach Camping

Address: 225 Avenida, Calafia, San Clemente, CA

The San Clemente State Beach offers campers several campsites. There are two campgrounds, one for RV’s and the other one for tents.

72 RV sites can accommodate 42 feet long trailers and campers. Some of these RV sites can be pulled through while there are sites which require you to back in. The beach has electrical and water hookups as well as a dump station.

The beach has 88 tent sites which are called ‘Family Sites.’ For campers that come in large groups, there are two group campsites in the area that can accommodate up to 50 campers.

You can easily find their restrooms, hot showers, and flush toilets. The showers in the campground are timed that runs when you insert a token you can buy from a nearby machine. If you want a quick cleanup after playing in the seashore, you can use the outdoor showers.

San Onofre State Beach

The San Onofre State Beach in San Clemente has three different areas, San Onofre Bluffs, San Mateo Campground, and San Onofre Surf Beach. If you love to camp near the beach, you have two options. You’re allowed to either camp at San Onofre Bluffs or the San Mateo Campground.

San Onofre Bluffs Campground has 175 campsites for those who love beach camping. It’s located at 5200 S Pacific Coast Hwy, San Clemente, CA. About half of the sites are for RV campers while the other half are for tents. The beach near the campsite is popular with swimmers, surfers, and those who love water sports. It has six rugged dirt access trails that cut into the bluff above. They allow group camping as well.

San Mateo Campground

The San Mateo Campground is a short distance from the 3.5 miles of sandy beaches here in San Clemente. It’s located at 830 Cristianitos, San Clemente, CA. This campground consists of 157 campsites for RVs, tents, and trailers. 67 of these campsites have electric and water hookups. You can bring your pets here. Firewood is available at the campground’s kiosk at $6/bundle.The campground is near the Trestles Beach, a beach considered as a world-class surfing site. It’s connected to the campground through the 1.5-mile Nature Trail. Campers are welcome all-year round!
